Back to the beautiful Mother City and got to do some fun things.

Charly’s Bakery-

So I got to meet Jacqui and Alex, two of the owners of Charly’s bakery, made famous by the reality show Charly’s Cake Angels. I will admit, I got a little bit more excited than I had expected. But who wouldn’t, even from the outside, the store gives you the feeling of stepping into a fantasy world where all your sugary dreams are made real. Inside it’s a kaleidoscope of sugary colour, your eyes will enjoy a visual display of the cookies and cakes in mind-boggling designs. When you’ve satisfied your visual hunger but are not by any chance decided on which one to sample, go ahead and ask for five.

Sundowners on Clifton Beach –

The best things in life are really free. Being able to afford a nice drink as you enjoy them is also not a bad thing. After the sugar rush we went to slow things down with sundown drinks at one of the many of restaurants dotted along the Clifton beachfront. Some bubbly here, some cocktail there and some free spectacle in the mix and above everything one of my favourite thing about my country: spectacular sunsets. A perfect way to introduce the warm months that are here to stay for good. Ok, for the next eight month, it is kind of like forever right?

Lazy Sunday lunch –

Maybe I should not say lazy, fabulous might be the right word. Outings in the Mother City seem to always be just that, fabulous! Maybe it’s because you can’t call it a simple lunch when the view is that magnificent. Lunch was a short drive to Stellenbosch from my new base when I’m in Cape Town, Somerset West. It was at Guardian Peak, a bistro-style restaurant on the Stellenbosch wine lands. I actually challenge you to click on the restaurant link and see what I mean by luxury in the simple everyday things. The menu was also quite reasonable and the wine by the bottle started from R75. Amazing right?
